Growing the Next-Gen Workforce

A TAP apprentice

UT alumni involved with the Tennessee Apprentice Program are establishing the program as a great resource for and a positive influence on UT students. This year, alumni volunteers representing a number of careers and locations matched up with about 90 UT students for the career-shadowing program, which allowed students from a variety of majors to visit alumni hosts at their place of work and observe operations.

The feedback from both alumni hosts and students is positive: 100 percent of the students say they would recommend the program to a friend, and 98.5 percent describe their visit day as “excellent” or “good.”

Recruiting for the 2011 program begins this fall, so if you are interested in this excellent way to help develop the next generation of the state’s college-educated workforce, learn more about the Tennessee Apprentice Program on the Tennessee Apprentice website.
