Notable Alumni: Charles E. Smith (1961)

Charles E. Smith (1961) was chancellor of the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee commissioner of education. From 1980 to 1985 he served as Chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Martin; he then served as Vice President of the University of Tennessee system. He was editor of the Nashville Banner from 1979 to 1980.
