He’s a two-year-old pup that the university learned about by word of mouth from within the East Tennessee bluetick coonhound rescue community.

Through reward-based training, Smokey is learning basic obedience cues and acclimation to the stadium environment.

Smokey took the field for the first time during the Orange and White game in April. He also attended basketball games to help get used to the noise of rowdy crowds.

He’s currently being fostered by an employee of the College of Veterinary Medicine while he gets ready for his new job.
