Mims Assumes Alumni Presidency

Cavanaugh Mims, president of Visionary Solutions LLC, assumed the Alumni Board of Directors presidency for the Knoxville campus on July 1, 2013.

Mims, a leader in business, earned his bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from UT in 1986 and began his career as a station nuclear engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority before advancing to senior program/project manager for the US Department of Energy.

He currently serves on the American Museum of Nuclear Science and Energy Board of Trustees and the UT College of Engineering Advisory Board. Recently, he was appointed chairman of the Board of Directors for Electus Group. He also serves as treasurer and head of the finance committee at Foster Chapel Baptist Church in Knoxville.

Mims and his wife, Telicia, are proud parents of Cavanaugh Mims II and TyKeara Mims.

Mims is an avid supporter of the university and is eager to take on his new role as Alumni Board of Directors president. The board is composed of individuals who represent UT’s more than 220,000 alumni.
