Madden Talks Writing

Author Kerry Madden, best known for her books for children and young adults, came to campus in November to participate in the Accomplished Alumni program.

Madden graduated with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee. She is a well known author of several books and has also been published in a number of publications, including the Los Angeles Times. Her Maggie Valley Trilogy, which includes the books Gentle’s Holler, Louisiana’s Song, and Jessie’s Mountain, has been nominated for a number of awards. Madden will release a young adult literature biography on Harper Lee in the spring of 2009.

While in Knoxville, Madden hosted a reading and book signing at the McClung Museum and spoke to a UT creative writing class. She also spoke to students at area elementary and high schools.
