John Shelton Wilder (1941 & 1942)

John Shelton Wilder, Tennessee’s longest serving lieutenant governor and state Senate speaker died Jan. 2, 2012.  A resident of Memphis, TN, Mr. Wilder was a 1942 graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and attended the University of Tennessee, Martin as well.  His is the longest reign over any state legislative body in modern history.
