John Propst Blane, III, of Birmingham, AL died April 13, 2012.  Mr. Blane was a 1951 graduate of the university of Tennessee Knoxville, with a Liberal Arts degree and also received his Master’s Degree in Liberal arts from UTK in 1956.  Mr. Blane was as a member of the UT Track Team that won 2 SEC championships.  He had an extensive career as a foreign liaison, serving as the Ambassador to both Chad and Rwanda.  He was a recipient of the United States Presidential Meritorious Award in 1989.
