Howard Louis Loveless, of Knoxville, died July 3, 2011. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from North Carolina State University. After a couple of short teaching stints at Clemson University and Auburn University, he moved to Knoxville in 1958 to start his teaching career at the University of Tennessee as an assistant professor of Industrial Engineering. In 1963, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Engineering, and gained full professorship in 1966. Howard retired from UT in 1989 after 32 years of service.
