Steve Metcalf visited campus in November as an honored participant of the Accomplished Alumni Program. Metcalf is president of the Policy Group Inc., a firm he founded in 2003 in North Carolina. The Policy Group provides governmental relations and business development consulting for firms doing business with state government, local governments, public schools, and public universities. Metcalf has held a variety of public service positions in his career and now serves as a lobbyist and consultant in his home state of North Carolina. During his visit, Metcalf spoke to a large group of undergraduate political science students in the Baker Center for Public Policy and also addressed a graduate school class.

Jacquie Lawing Ebert

Jacquie Lawing Ebert is a partner for GMMB, a strategic communications firm with offices in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Seattle. She oversees the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation U.S. Program account providing strategic, issues advocacy, communications and media counsel to improve access to opportunity. Jacquie manages GMMB efforts with the Gates Foundation, the Coalition for a Career and College Ready America, the State of Pennsylvania, and the James B. Hunt Institute to reform education so all young people are prepared for and achieve college and career success. Ebert spoke to a variety of audiences during a visit in November and was honored as an Accomplished Alumna. During her visit, Ebert spoke to the Student Alumni Associates, graduate students in the College of Social Work, a large group of political science students in the Baker Center, and a variety of faculty and staff from several colleges.
