Golfing for Good

Alumni who live in the Atlanta area or who plan to attend the UT–Georgia game on October 9 need to mark Friday, October 8, on their calendars for a new event we hope will become a can’t-miss fall tradition: the October Traditions Golf Tournament.

October Traditions will raise money to fund scholarships for students who attend a UT campus. This exciting new event will be held at the Oaks Golf Course in Covington, Ga., beginning on October 8. Players will mingle with UT greats on a pristine Southern course designed by the legendary Bobby Jones in 1933.

“The Atlanta Alumni Chapter is both excited and proud to put on the 2010 October Traditions Golf Tournament, which will coincide with the Tennessee vs. Georgia football game,” says event organizer Kristen Blankenbecler.

The cost is $125 per person, which includes green and cart fees, lunch, drinks, goodie bags, and a closing reception. The tournament is a Fort Lauderdale Scramble with four-person teams or single entry handicaps.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to see some former Tennessee players and coaches, as well as to yell ‘Go Big Orange’ in Dawg country. It will be a great time for everyone who attends the event,” Blankenbecler says.
