Young Alumni Weekend Wrap-Up

Young Alumni gather in Neyland Stadium

More than 200 young alumni headed back to Rocky Top during April 16–17 for the 2010 Spring Young Alumni Weekend. The annual event, sold out for the second year in a row, treated young alums to behind-the-scenes tours of Neyland Stadium, the Lawson Athletic Center, and the renovations of Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Before the Vols’ Orange & White spring football game, guests gathered at the Frank H. McClung Museum to eat, drink, and be merry at a pregame tailgate party. An in-depth football panel discussion before the game gave young alums a preview of the Orange & White Game and the 2010 football season. The panel comprised three well-known sports personalities and fellow young alumni:

  • Young alumni familyDrew Edwards, UT Athletics assistant director of internet communications
  • James Wilhoit, UT football letterman (2003–06)
  • Josh Ward, co-host of daily radio show Sports 180 on the Sports Animal

The young alumni group then took in the Orange & White Game from the east skyboxes in Neyland Stadium, watching the Orange team claim a 16–7 victory over the White squad.

The dates for the 2010 Fall Young Alumni Weekend have been set for September 3–4, so mark your calendars and make plans to be there.
