John “Tom” Mentzer, of Knoxville, died February 26, 2010. He was a Chancellor’s Professor and held the Bruce Chair of Excellence in the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. A prolific author of books and articles, Tom also held key leadership roles including President of the Academy of Marketing Science, President of the Council of Logistics Management, and Executive Director for the University of Tennessee Demand & Supply Integration Forums. He was the recipient of numerous teaching and distinguished service awards. Dr. Mentzer taught at the University of Tennessee for more than 30 years and leaves a lasting legacy as mentor to former doctoral students now serving as faculty at institutions around the world.
