A past All-Sports Picnic event

It’s time for the 43rd Annual Davidson County UT Alumni Chapter All-Sports Picnic! The picnic will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Allen Arena on the David Lipscomb University campus. Head football coach Lane Kiffin, men’s and women’s basketball coaches, and “Voice of the Vols” Bob Kesling will be in attendance.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. CDT, and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Other festivities include a silent auction with the opportunity to purchase UT football tickets, a UT football stadium tour and walk-through practice, two Lady Vols guest coaching spots, and much more.

Family at ASP event“The All-Sports Picnic has become a Middle Tennessee tradition for fans of all Volunteer sports teams. It is a great chance to meet coaches and members of the Athletics Department and find Vol memorabilia,” said Yale Miller, picnic chair.

Tickets are $10 per person, which includes barbecue with all of the fixings. Lettermen and children under the age of 8 are free. Preregistration deadline is July 16. After July 16 and at the door, the price is $15 per person.

Online registrations are accepted at For more information, visit or call the Davidson County Alumni Chapter hotline at 615-426-2510.

“It always seems to signal the kickoff of the fall season and should be particularly interesting this year with the new football staff in place,” Miller said. “With the proceeds from the event going to the Davidson County Alumni Chapter Scholarship, it makes this event an all-around great night for the University of Tennessee.”

One of the Davidson County chapter’s proudest accomplishments is establishing the Davidson County Alumni Chapter Scholarship Endowment in 1997. This scholarship helps students from the Davidson County area attend the UT campus of their choice. Since 1997, Davidson County has helped 12 students attend the University of Tennessee. Proceeds from the All-Sports Picnic will go to help support this scholarship endowment.
